Government Official States Ministry of Defence Investigating Potential Threat from Vehicles from China, as Personnel Advised to Refrain from Confidential Discussions in Cars.

An defence official has stated that the Ministry of Defence is currently looking into the possible security risks posed by Chinese cars, and personnel have been advised to refrain from talking about secret information in all vehicles.

Safety Guidance for MoD Staff

During a recently aired interview on LBC, Luke Pollard commented on claims that MoD officials have been told not to talk about secret material while riding in Chinese vehicles.

The minister explained that the ministry is “investigating” cars from China within its vehicle pools, but emphasised that security is a issue in all modern cars.

We have a fleet of tens of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles represent a tiny fraction.
However regardless of if you’re driving a Chinese car or a non-Chinese car, what we’ve asked our people is to avoid connecting MoD technology into their car, not to have conversations at a classified classification in any car, because of the growing risks of eavesdropping that exist in all vehicle, to restrict those confidential talks in protected areas. That’s a wise and sensible thing for anyone worried about security.

When it was suggested that it would be prudent for the ministry to stop using every cars from China, the minister replied: ‘That’s exactly what we’re investigating at the present time.”

Broader Defence Context

This revelation follows reports from Scandinavian countries have alerted the United Kingdom to the existence of multi-purpose kill switches in Chinese electric buses, which could enable China to disable public transport and bring chaos to transport systems.

Additionally, a Russian spy ship has been directing lasers at Royal Air Force pilots, described as a “highly dangerous” action by defence officials.

The broader defence situation underscores the significance of strong protocols and caution in every areas of government operations, including transport use to communication habits.
